Jake is senior Electrical and Computer Engineering, and is very excited to working on his 3rd ArtAwake, this time as the co-creative director, after being the Tech Director for 2 years. In his “free time” (if such a thing exists in his life), Jake can be found underwater or working on a robot. Jake never expected to be the creative director, but is extremely excited to give more people the amazing experience of ArtAwake.
Fiona is an alumnae of Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut, and a current senior. She is a Studio Art & Computer Science major, with a variety of talents. In her spare time, Fiona can most often be found in the Sage Art Center, where she is honing her different forms of art. Art & Installation Director
Hailing from rural Western New York, Kamilah is a member of U of R’s Class of 2019. Studying Art History, Psychology and Religion, she has developed a strong connection and attachment to the Rochester arts community. From studying local street art and graffiti to working as a full time intern at the Memorial Art Gallery she has taken in the wide spectrum of arts in Rochester and hopes to use this knowledge and these connections to bring something great to the Art division of ArtAwake this year. In her free time she enjoys cooking, painting, and hiking with her dog, Cocoa.
Originally from Dorset Vermont, Meghan is a junior majoring in mathematics at the U of R. On campus, she is the current treasurer of Sigma Delta Tau, member of UR It’s On Us, and Calculus TA. In her free time, she enjoys reading math books, painting whales and octopi, skiing, hiking, and soaking up the great outdoors. She is very excited to be on this years ArtAwake committee and spread creativity through Rochester.
Molly is a junior majoring in audio & music engineering and minoring in music at the University of Rochester. She supports local and independent musicians with WRUR as a DJ and as the station’s current chief engineer, and previously as the station’s external music director. A musician herself, Molly has been playing violin for fourteen years (as well as mandolin for a few years), most recently taking secondary lessons in violin at the Eastman School of Music. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Molly spends her free time making and listening to music, watching TV, and doing puzzles in any form.

Jade Miller is a senior currently completing a Dual Degree in Marketing and English Literature from Syracuse, NY. On campus, she’s involved on the Women’s Varsity Rowing team as a coxswain, is the VP of Finance for the Executive Panhellenic Council and is the Philanthropy Chair for Gamma Phi Beta. She’s looking forward to getting the community and student population interested in ArtAwake and can’t wait to help make this event successful!

Malika is a sophomore at the University of Rochester, majoring in Biomedical engineering and minoring in Journalism. She originally hails from mountainous Almaty, Kazakhstan. Malika regularly writes articles for Campus Times news and culture sections. She loves being outdoors and doesn’t miss an opportunity to escape campus with Outing Club. Back home Malika spends her time reading and drawing portraits or nature with watercolors.

Mike is an international student double majoring in Computer Science & Business with a cluster in dance. His main extracurricular focus is on debate which includes regular traveling nationally and internationally. His main passion in college is getting to know the stories of many different people. Zubair is a rising senior, who is majoring in Computer Science & Economics. On campus, Zubair is involved with Grass Roots Soccer, a health organization that leverages the power of soccer to educate and inspire children to live healthier lives and be agents for change in their communities, and Alpha Kappa Psi, the professional business fraternity. This summer, he is working at the Flower City Arts Center as a photography and digital arts intern. In his free time, he enjoys painting and photography.
Liz is an Audio and Music Engineering student at the University of Rochester. Coming from a small town in Connecticut, Liz loves the wide variety of local music in Rochester and the liveliness of the city. Liz is also the manager of Live Events and Productions at the university radio station WRUR, so it’s very likely that you will see her dragging speakers somewhere on campus. She also takes part in recording the podcast “Open Sessions” when she has the time. In her free time, Liz enjoys listening to and making music, or watching movies.
Alicia is a current sophomore majoring in neuroscience. When shes not studying for class, she can be found photographing events and wandering the city in search for the best place to get thai tea. She’s so so excited to be working with artawake this year and can’t wait to see everyone at the event in September!
Yara is a Junior at the University of Rochester majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Business. Having been a dancer since a young age, Yara explored a wide variety of dance starting with classical Palestinian Folkloric dance. Since she joined the class of 2020, Yara explored Dance Improvisation and Latin Dance through classes and on-campus clubs. Her passion for arts and dance is what drove her to be part of ArtAwake 2018, as she saw a chance to highlight student talents around Rochester and celebrate different dance styles.
